#15: Fred & Kate Pfundt homesteaded on land about 7 miles south of Holly, near Dewatto, in 1889. Their 8 children were raised around the Holly area & when grown, most of them made their homes & raised their children in the community. Fred, known to some as "Fritz", died in 1936. Katie, later known as "Grandma Pfundt", lived to the age of 99 & was a beloved figure in the community. Shed died in 1957 in Holly. The Pfundt's eldest child, Albert, purchased property in Holly in 1894. He fished & shrimped for many years. He also operated a Post Office, Store and Resort for over 25 years & built a house in 1910 on the hill behind the store that still stands today. In 1922, he donated the land on which the Holly School, now the Holly Community Club, was built. Pictured here, probably in the 1920's, are the Pfundts.
