Riverside Timber Company, c.1902

Railroad tracks running in front of the Bourke's Point post office & store. Behind the store is the dance hall / community center. Fred Wyatt's home is seen in the far upper right corner; A house that still stands today. This photo was probably taken from the base of pier that extended into the canal from the north side of Holly Bay.

#2: Between 1902 & 1905, the Riverside Timber Company bought 21,000 acres of timberland around the Holly area. The logging operation involved 1 locomotive, 6 donkey engines, & 10 miles of railroad track that extended to Hintzville. The railroad carried the logs to Anderson Cove & dumped them in the water where they were formed into booms and towed by tugboat to the sawmills.
